Being a League of Legends player, i personally do not believe in elo hell.

However my friend insists that it is in fact a reality. He has 1500 games, and yet he is stuck at 1600 elo. My conclusion is that he is a baddie, i've tried to explain the fact that the chances of getting baddies on his team and on the opponent team is equal - if he was decent he'd raise.

Is elo hell in fact a reality in HoN?

I linked him this guide, explaining in detail why elo hell is non-excistant

http://lolfieldguide.***/2011/11/why-elo-hell-exists-and-why-you-belong.html

However, he now claims it is invalid because it concerns LoL. However the point is exactly the same, right?

There is no such thing as MMR hell. Enemy team players are often just as bad as the players you get on your team. I've won games when 3/4 of the people on my team were intentionally doing everything they could to make me lose just because enemy team still made enough mistakes for me to win 1v5. It's all about playing better than your opponents. If you can consistently do that you'll move up in MMR no matter what teams you get.

My gf's account is usually around 1100-1200, so pretty much as low as u can get skill wise. If I play with her on a ftp smurf its pretty much a 95% win rate. So, theres no such thing.

If you're stuck, then you're just not good enough to get higher. Easy as that.
