i use xsplit broadcaster for recording / streaming under a long period of time
and for videos i use fraps as recorder and edit in something called CyberLink PowerDirector

all though my fraps is fucked up and cannot record sound for some reason

That's how it was a few years ago.. haven't tried to do this for a while.
