One of the heroes I've been interested in playing is Flux, how good is he? Obviously it depends on the person playing them, but overall.

I'm still learning and so far I have found pestilence to be the easiest to get used to.
Good damage output, 2 second stun every 2 seconds, good escape/engagement skill, good support/semi-carry.

Witch Slayer is also good.
2 stuns/disables, very good ulti for early-mid game to rack up lots of kills/assist carries.

This.
Play in public no-stats games to start off with until you know the items and heroes.
Items choice is extremely important in HoN.

Is there a site that has guides, or replays, or just a good general source of info about heroes/gameplay?

I've played like...1500~ games in LoL, but teamfights and gameplay just feels so different in LoL than it does in HoN, from what I remember when I played HoN like a year ago.

LoL just seems so forgiving for doing stupid things, while HoN is much more punishing, is this an accurate statement?

LoL is for baddies, yes.

The HoN website has guides in it, as well as the forums on there.
For item build/hero guides, the guides section on the website is actually built into the game at the shop.
Just hit B when you enter a game and the guide should pop up along with the shop.
