I've seen this countless times in high-end games; Valkyrie players start the throw animation then cancel it, so it looks like she's about to throw it, but doesn't actually throw it.
question is, how do you do this? I think I tried it before, but it seems like just making her walk mid-animation doesn't cut it. Someone explain, please?

No idea what you're talking about, but it sounds like pressing "stop" when they're about to throw might be the answer you're looking for.
