In all honestly, I'm a noob. I just started this game, and I suck.
I tend to look into guides before picking a hero (what items to buy, what skills to get, etc.).
Is there a place like there is for dota (playdota.com) where you can find good hero guides, but for hon?

You could check the hon forums or just google a guide for the hero, but these guides are most likely outdated or just shitty.

Well yes, I usually just google for guides. However some of those are not so good. The ones that mercyxx posted seem to be a lot better.

the guides will be a good starting point
the fact that you admit you suck is also good
just remember the best way to improve is through playing
if somebody owns you with something, don't be afraid to replicate it/try it out in future games, etc
for the most part, though, it'll just take a lot of games

Play scout as often as possable. If someone takes scout counter them with night hound

youtube works too.
