Hey there, I played HoN when it first came out (Beta) and DoTa for that matter.
I am thinking about getting back into but ive heard Beta is now closed and the
only way to acess online game play is to buy the game, Is this true?

Is there anyway I could download and play the game again without playing
as if I back a few months playing the Beta?

Nope, HoN is now officially released (even though it sure doesn't seem like it) and you now have to have buy the game to play it.

They did a Free-To-Play Weekend a little while ago, where users could use accounts they had in Beta and play No-Stats games for the Weekend. Whether they plan on doing this again or not, I'm unsure.

plus, you get it indefinitely and can enjoy their shitty patches
