Yes its a vocalist, who does heavy vocals, and soft vocals.

Typically if someone says "they have a good singing voice" they aren't refering to someone who screams.

It is a whole lot easier to just put them in two seperate categories and use the word vocals/vocalist to mesh them. So if someone goes "Oh you're in a band? What do you do?" you can just say "I'm the vocalist or I do vocals", rather than trying to make them wrap their head around "I'm the singer" "Oh really? Sing something then" (this happens all the fucking time -.-) *screams some random shit*" and them go "WTF THATS NOT SINGING, ITS SCREAMING, OR GODZILLA, ETC".

yep, heavy metal singers possibly some of the best vocalists because of the strain it puts on your voice, gotta instantly transfer from high to low pitches, etc

i dunno what makes you think it's emo other than your lack of music knowledge, filter out the shitty metal and you have the most substance in terms of musical technicality and lyrics
it's actually rather difficult to scream well, and to do it properly so you don't permanently damage your vocal chords
