all u need to do its take b^2-4ac where the equation is in the form Ax^2 + By^2 + Cx + ...

then theres specific cases , which i cba looking up

for this one its obviously a parabola though since no y^2 term. all the Cx and Dy terms do is shift it around, and the +12 moves it up. so we only have the x^2 term to really look at, which obviously makes it a parabola

if it's vertical a^2 is under y^2
look at the coordinates, is it changing horizontally or vertically
