thats the main problem with some games these days
-they aren't nearly as good or they don't make a big impact as before
-i think we outgrow them as well

also there is just too much shit being released who has time to try it all

i played hardcore and the currency there was runes. soj was currency on softcore? how? they're so hard to find

and yeah you're right, i think the reason we can't get engrossed by games is we're just older

sojs were duped just like hrs were, they do it still even now and theres shops spamming shit all over
can't understand who buys that crap, a hr now is like 8fg once they start duping everything loses value

I remember playing patch 1.10 when I started. Maybe I was just a huge noob but duping and item shops didn't seem as prevalent back then. I remember building an MF sorc because I couldn't afford Enigma for other characters. I had the shittiest gear ever (vmagi, ali baba sword, random blue boots, etc.) and I had to glitch meph and take like 10 minutes to kill him each time. When I finally found a Shako I could hardly contain my excitement. Also, every single set ammy I found I would get so excited that it might be a Tal's Ammy. After many, many hours of gameplay I could finally afford enigma, hoto, life skillers, and basically all-around decent gear for a character. I was pretty much a legend among all my friends that played since they were still running around thinking Vipermagi was the best item ever. Seems like back in those days hardly anyone had fully geared characters with all 45 life skillers, permed .08 boots, and shit like that. Made the game a lot more fun since you could actually find stuff that was worth a lot. Now, you find Shako or HoZ or something and you almost just wanna vendor it because it's not worth the trouble of creating a thread on jsp and getting 3 fg.

In terms of other games, I remember I used to be able to play City of Heroes and WoW all day long every day. Pretty sure if I didn't have school or parents to pull me away from the computer I'd just never quit playing. Now, I can't get into any new games. All MMOs seem to suck, including WoW which has become super casual. RPGs just aren't as good as Mass Effect and DA:O were. I tried playing DA:I for a few hours and got so bored with the shitty combat and same old recycled story that I never touched it again. All I do now is play some WC3 custom maps from time to time, mostly for the nostalgia.

u r right, duping and botting back then wasn't as popular but now everybody does it
but hey if we r taking this trip down memory lane shiiiit, i remember i pld on dial up modem cuz that was only internet i could have back then
i only did it after 7pm cuz before dial up was crazy expensive and even then it was still way more than what i pay now like 5 times more
i couldn't wait to get online and play like d2 or war3, wow i only pld for about 2 years and quit after burning crusade but i cant imagine any games will have that big of an impact ever again

you guys should have played hardcore
the economy was actually pretty great. it could be a year after the ladder reset and HoZ would still be a good find, as it would sell for 50-100fg++. when i tried playing softcore i quit almost immediately cause everything was so worthless

mfing in hardcore, converting to fg and dueling in softcore was probably the best way to do it. i never really dueled though.

would anyone want to do a pure runthrough of d2 sometime? just us, no fg etc

i did this on classic...but dueling for loot is way faster to get big coins. lol i remember the richest guy on one particular season..i killed 3 of his barbs in 1 day was like 20k fg in a day.

idk about hardcore but people use bots there too with chicken aka save&exit so im guessing prices arent that much diff there

i actually tried to get a party going for HC, start act1 and just go until we die
no farming, just walkthrough see how far we can make it. i coulg probably bring a friend for this as well
we would probably need around 2-3 hours each difficulty i think, in theory it's nice idea but people might get bored so idk

i could get you pretty high level if you listen to me..the trick to hc is you just need to be a lot more conservative about playing...so leveling takes a little longer than on sc

on hardcore or softcore? i remember the loot function, but it seems like people would just instantly disconnect so you cant loot them right?



yeah but bots die too on hardcore
if your internet drops during botting in a bad spot, you're toast
trust me, as a whole you can get a lot more fg on hc. it's just a different economy

also no one should die unless they're really bad. you can just go easy mode and have someone be a summoner nec
