Hmm. I was thinking about EG and C9 and about their "big" players and here's what I came up with:
EE is the "big" or most recognized player of C9, just look at how many replies this thread has
RTZ is the "big" or most recognized player of EG, he has always been a super star
Now let's see how these 2 guys compared
RTZ
-Extremely high skilled
-Very hard to shut down
-Often the difference maker in games
-Plays carry role from solo mid just as well as EE from safelane
-If left unchecked, completely takes over the game
-Great item choice and decision making
-Decent looking IRL
-Young, still in high school, lots of potential for further education and getting a non-gaming job in the future
-Gets all the ladies, girls at school stalk him on twitter and call him A-God
-Stream gets 10k viewers
-Has played less time than Envy, yet already has won 2 LANs and several online titles, and is on one of the top teams in the world
Envy
-Medicore skill carry
-If he gets shut down, he just plain loses
-Rarely the difference maker in games, relies on Bone, SingSing, and Aui to make big plays
-Needs safelane babysit to farm effectively and play carry
-Often is left unchecked due to being safelane and his team creating space, still loses often
-Poor item choices alot of the time (SNY & EB Gyro anyone?), and poor decision making make him fail at carry even if he has freefarm and no pressure
-Super ugly IRL. Chubby, glasses wearing, awful haircut, horrible physique, dumb looking mouthbreather face, probably terrible breath, etc.
-In mid 20s, no higher education, very little chance of going back to school, relies on pro gaming as a career and has no other potential
-Only girls he intracts with are anime 2D girls. Socially awkward, girls don't notice or respect him, his own mother is very disappointed in him and his choices (he said so on stream)
-Stream never gets 10k or more viewers
-Had dedicated 3 years to this game and has failed to make it to the very top every year. E.g. getting kicked from nth before TI3 and getting $0 as opposed to the $1.6M alliance won.
And people wonder why C9 isn't the best "NA" team despite the competition there being WAY easier and them basically cheating get into MLG american instead of Europe
