BreakyCPK is the biggest joke of a caster. He hasn't gotten better in his 4 odd years of casting. If anything, he's gotten worse while still saying the exact same things over and over. Also, just look at the stream quality / spectator value of a competitive HoN game and compare it to Dota2 with DotaTV, million dollar prize pools, great casters, and 100k+ stream viewers and you'll quickly see just how little S2 is willing to do for their game.

Funny you mention the MK by the way. The point where heroes like MK were just running rampant mid and raping all the traditional heroes with very little effort was the point HoN starting to become stale and unenjoyable for me. You literally have to play perfect on a SS, Hag, or almost any traditional Dota port hero against heroes like MK or DW mid or you just lose the lane. That means you pretty much have to dodge all their spells, get every rune, and land perfect harass. If you get hit by 1 combo, lose 1 rune, or make a mistake harassing and take too much damage, you've lost. It's just dumb and rewards poor play from bad players with no real repercussions.

I agree crushing a MK is satisfying though. It's pretty doable considering lots of people who play that hero are really bad and just want to get a higher winrate than they deserve. They make enough mistakes for them to somehow die or get completely out cs'd. It's really quite dumb how everything about him is perfect though. He has two escapes, a great combo to insta-kill anyone early game, crazy mobility with his ulti to gank lanes if he's losing mid or just to control runes, and he also scales well into late game with his stat gain, agility primary attribute, and the fact his first skill scales with auto-attack damage and how he can escape or disable people easily with his rock / vault skills.

Can be done, but in an equal match of skill it's pretty significantly hard.
It's a bad idea to play almost any fragile hero mid now, with additions like MK and Solstice. Solstice isn't really overpowered or anything, but if you play a fragile hero and he gets a charge off on you, you're done (he jungles, in case you didn't know. Charge is somewhat similar to legio, but with a ~1s stun at the end)
Of course you can still avoid getting gayed by Solstice, but you have to play sooo conservatively you might as well just play something beefier (or just a hero with an s2 escape)

Doesn't sound very fun to me. One of my favorite parts of the game was squishy ranged vs squishy ranged mid matchups, which had a very high skill cap and were overall really exciting since they required you to focus on so many things at once. Now it seems like you can just pick a tanky melee S2 hero, run to mid with stout shield + hatchet, get easy last hits, get free runes or refreshment runes, tank most spells without having to worry too much about small positioning errors, and combo anyone down without having to set up much harass or anything. It just seems like the game is so much more 1-dimensional now, though I could be wrong since I haven't seen most of the latest patches.

I think S2 is making a shit ton of money if they can afford to hire a new staff to work on a new game.

So despite us thinking HoN is a pile, S2 is doing quite well for themselves growing their company.
