I'd also follow TDA101's guide in the shop, the skill build is max flight + stun first, then impale (ult at level 6, 11, 16).
Flight + stun first makes killing and escaping easier, also faster travel between lanes.
You should be using your ult pretty much whenever it's up. The -armour and vision gain is great even if you don't fight. You also get assists from it.
Item build I use on pesti goes something like
Steamboots > Helm of the black legion OR pk if you're ahead > helm/pk (whichever you didn't get) > savage mace > daemonic (unless someone else on your team has one, then go for beastheart).
