Generally for the us, full spin training is only done at a cfi level it use to be required for privet pilot license, but the FAA found it was getting to many people killed.
A spin class is still a really good thing to take though. Teach you how to get out of inadvertent unusual attitudes in a safe manner.
I'm not an acrobatic guy, but I've been in 4 fully developed insipital spins.(about 6 turns each)
Now I say that's for the us, because for the European JA licenses spin training is part of it.
In Canada I had to do some insps, full spins as well as spirals for both my glider and private even with those same restrictions on aerobatics. I've done a little bit of aerobatics but a lot more in gliders than in power aircrafts. Little easier to find a gliding club with high performance gliders than one with a nice box n shoot bird like you were saying.
