Just going off of what my friends tell me, I wish I had some sort of actual data.
They go faster than Dota but thats to be expected at this point and time. Dota is so limited because its not a standalone.
Well what else can you compare the patch frequency to, other than DotA? LoL? Obviously patching in the beta would be more frequent after retail.
I got these dates off a blog so they could be slightly off/wrong.
5/12 - retail launch
5/22 - 1.01 (major patch, new items, new heroes, balance changes)
5/26 - 1.02 (minor patch, bug fixing, balancing, polishing)
6/14 - 1.03 (major patch, bug fixing, balancing, polishing, ui improvements)
6/19 - 1.04 (minor patch, bug fixing)
7/2 - 1.05 (major patch, bug fixing, balancing, polishing)
7/3 - 1.06 (minor patch, balancing, bug fixing)
7/29 - 1.07 (major patch, bug fixing, balancing, polishing, new hero)
7/30 - 1.08 (minor patch, bug fixing, balancing, polishing)
New content every 1-4 weeks seems fine for this game. Adding new content/changes every week wouldn't seem to work too well for the competitive scene.

Any ETA on the editor?
S2 made a comment on 7/19 that the map editor is a high priority for them. There is no exact date.
Though you can expect that when it does come out, it will be buggy as shit, and it'll take them 6 more months to fix all the bugs and polish it so it's a nice product.
