Goodluck studying computer science without a personal laptop. I can't be bothered with a Desktop, syncing files is annoying as hell and if I had a Desktop I would still need a laptop for school, so the only difference is I would game/do recreational shit on one system, and use the other for work.

I'd rather have everything in one place. I can't really be bothered with a shit laptop because I need alot of memory and a decent graphics card for virtualization. Yes, for the same price I could probably get a shitty laptop and a desktop with decent specs, but I'd much rather just have one very good laptop which I can use for everything. Also, I don't see why I would actually need a desktop more powerful than this. This'll be able to run any game I can dream of on ultra for the next few years at least.

Also rick, glossy or matte screen finish? Which is better?

My budget didn't allow me to pay extra for the matte screen. I pretty much have to close all windows when I use my laptop since the glare is a huge bitch.

No you don't. I can run 3 VM's perfectly fine with 8GB of RAM and a shitty GT 520M gpu.

Seriously, just spend $500 on a standard laptop with USB 3, get a portable HDD with USB 3, and spend the rest on a desktop.

I imagine putting that much stuff into a laptop is also going to give you some pretty terrible heat issues as well, and I doubt you want to carry around a cooling pad for it as well.
