to me it's all about attitude really, was sitting some random guy on moa who i saw was decent and we managed to get a kill they used all shit on him and he was out of regen so i gave him my health pot and he said thank you kind sir
now that actually motivated me to play good support and sit him on lane ward and stack woods but in other cases when i see my laner is a complete noob and is flaming and raging as well he won't get shit from me
same for going mid, no runeward no upped cur and i see other mid delivering on fly + going straight for rune and winning is a complete turn off as well
even tho i could get myself a ward i sometimes feel i don't have to and might as well take those baddies down with me who don't ward and expect me to gank
yeah but almost everyone in HoN has an aggressive immature attitude. it makes perfect sense too. the game kind of sucks, and is more of a funny pubstomp game than a real competitive game. the differences are pretty obvious.
in dota2 (at higher mmr obviously), if you get a kill on someone or they get a kill on you, there's hardly ever any trash talk in allchat (unless you start it of course). most of the time all chat only happens when a really cool kill/juke comes off and people comment on it.
teams flame eachother alot less. even if someone is a noob and doing stupid things, people most of the time don't comment and just leave him alone, or they try to help and tell him what to do.
people pick better. this isn't a huge huge difference since you still get lots of dumb lineups with 3 mid solos, but you see 5-carry teams way less often, and people generally pick last couple of heroes to synergize with rest of team.
i think most people that are playing dota2 beta are oldschool dota players with lots of respect for the game and who understand flaming / being a dick gets you nowhere really. sadly, there isn't much left of HoN to respect so i doubt this mindset will be seen in hon anytime soon.
