Well, I've taken dance lessons of all sorts (tap, ballet, jazz, modern, even gymnastics) since the age of 7. When I was in high school, I attended an innovative, brand new school for the arts that had an excellent teacher by the name of Mr. Savage. He's also the director of the Savage Jazz Dance Company, a small group of elite dancers that inspired me to really devote my life to dance.
From the time of our meeting, I began training as hard as I could possibly push myself, and was dancing over 40 hours a week on top of school and studies. By my junior year, I was invited to dance with his company as the youngest member they'd ever had. Our company traveled and performed all over the country, and even had taken a trip to Rome.
However, my ambitions took a serious toll on my body and overall health. I was dancing too much, and not giving myself enough time to recover after lengthy practice sessions. In the evenings, I could barely lift my shaky, exhausted arms to play a few games of DotA.
About four years ago, I finally had to quit entirely. I was harboring a number of chronic injuries and serious inflammation near many of my lower joints, and had to put that chapter of my life behind me. I do, however, miss it very much at times, and still have a great interest in the arts.
