Based on how slowly the HoN product has been developing with what I would consider major features - graphical engine major overhaul, new api of any kind, or rewriting something like the osx sound engine - it really looks like HoN is in a maintenance cycle not an active development cycle.
If you guys come out with a midwars game type, rad. Seriously though, knowing that the map guy was working on a midwars map over a year ago and nothing is on the street yet looks pretty bad. Mali needs to decide if he wants to invest in HoN or let it go, because you are saying one thing about the path of HoN and Mali is saying something totally different with his dollars.
One of their employees quit after working their for 8 years, Jason Morales, he was the guy who said maliken is a homophobic bigot (

However the maintenance the other day was them added hontour shit into the game.
