you should try playing like 100 games of dota2 at least before you dismiss it. should also try playing with friends, it makes the game way way better. solo pubbing really isn't what dota2 is about. its meant to be a competitive game based hugely on teamplay (yes, i know hon is in theory the same thing, but come on, its really just a pubstomp game where you pick retarded s2 heroes and yell stupid shit in voice chat).
i guess if you haven't played dota1 you won't appreciate dota2 as much, but i still think its a way superior game and is only going to get better as hon gets worse.

in the past week i've played maybe 15 dota2 games and the more i play the more i like it
and i've played maybe 5 hon games and all of them were with fittske and we were just trolling around, devo+anything lane digging tunnels and shit, screaming in voicechat these things are indeed more funny in hon but in the end these stuffs cant weigh up for all the garbage hon have

i basically agree with everything here, except im beginning to like the UI. the map has nice visualizations for enemies / allies (X for enemy, circle for ally), also its kind of nice to be able to draw on it occasionally when planning a push / gank (and not just for trolling purposes).
plus i'm sure the more you play the more you will agree the hero pool just works so much better individually and as a whole, and the balance is just way more superior. almost every hero in the pool is viable somehow, whereas in HoN S2 heroes have made lots of ports obsolete. i mean, who EVER plays soulstealer anymore except for smurfs in brackets 300 mmr under their real range. also, whens the last time you saw DR used mid over something like a nomad / monkey king? Also, even when those obscure heroes are used, they lose almost all the time because S2 balance is something along the lines of "lets make melee heroes really powerful by buffing hatchet and keeping lots of ranged heroes at low base damage. then lets add a bunch of really fucking poweful melee heroes with escapes / nukes / carry potential like nomad / monkey king, who also are awesome at rune control and benefit hugely from new items like bulwark and buffed shieldbreaker. then lets keep all the nerfs we made on ranged heroes 100 metagames ago and keep SS demon hand at 80 mana and ulti at 1.5s channel".

i think you may just be still in low MMr bracket in dota2 and playing wit baddies. i've met sooo many good players in pubs who are way better than your average HoN 1800 player and who actually impressed me. e.g. in one game some lina player bought courier at start, proceeded to fail early game cuz our pudge never landed one hook when she came to gank for him, then brought it back and somehow managed to farm up blink / euls and just dominated enemy team left and right despite having a horrible start and buying support items.
