also you can put him any lane and he'll do well. solo/dual hard lane = stalk and get a few creep kills and levels, maybe some hero kills. dual lane eZ lane = get freefarm / kills. solo mid = get good farm + rune control + gank side lanes

i find that the best build is generally fast chalice + lifetube -> boots -> nullstone -> either bkb or offensive items depending on enemy team

can also substitute nullstone with whispering helm or something and get BKB instead in rare cases that nullstone is totally useless, but then its nice to get like a bottle or have arcane rings on team for mana regen

almost never go bkb on him, he has enough survivability if you can actually play the hero b/w nullstone / stalk / disjoint of barrel roll.

y hellflower is very stronk on him too

biggest mistake lots of people make on him is to go runed axe. pirat pointed this out to me a while ago and makes sense, since you really don't need the cleave that badly to farm. with your ulti (which is spammable), crit, stalk, and barrel roll you can take out triple stacks super fast without any cleave. also going runed basically forces you to transition into shruken or something since it provides not enough survivability
