well dunno bout that obv some heroes can last hit easier and farm easier than others but hag mid for instance, dont wanna use all my mana on scream and her damage is kinda low so can have problems against say a ss for instance. do u maybe select the creep ure about to lasthit and watch his hp or watch everything else and just lasthit/deny. im aware against lesser players u can fake an attack or attack another nearby creep to force him on an early deny and then get the kill urself etc... but if he's decent that wont work on moset cases, also would there be a case where denying is favored against lasthitting? and i dont mean on support etc just mid 1v1

easiest way is to pressure them, then secure your lane advantage

i find it really fun though to emo farm, its totally awesome having 17 minute treads + nullstone + bassilius

the person you're against is a real cocksmack faggot with a hero that has a higher damage range than yours and is focusing on last hitting and able to time it (timing it is pretty herp derp in itself) then start harassing them

if you can throw them off and give them more to worry about than timing last hits all day, you should be good to go as long as you're able to keep up pressure while last hitting
and yeah with a hero like hag there's nothing wrong with spending mana getting last hits
just try to get multiple creeps when you blow it

generally, i'll blow it during the wave when the time is an odd number (y = {0-9}, x = {1, 3, 5, 7, 9} -> yx:30 spawn, collision in mid at yx:45) so hit the warlock/archer enough that it'd die in a scream, lower whatever creeps aren't getting raped by allied creeps (if it's ranged and a melee on one and two melee on another, help the one being hit by 2 melee since you won't be able to lower the one not being hit at all in time to kill it before the one being hit by the ranged and melee will die to creeps)

so that way you can grab the rune and refill your mana and any hp you lost getting the last hits anyways
SS is a faggot hero and will likely just demon hand spam every yx:30 spawn but you get what i mean

it's an added bonus if you can hit SS with the scream as well, that way you get farm, you get harass, and you get rune control
