I feel like mines are a filler skill. Against good people you probably won't get that many kills, so they're only useful for scouting or stopping a push. That means in high level games you'd go keg/turret.
When you're placing mines you're out of exp range, and not getting any gold. You do all that for a hero kill, which you can do with a lane partner with keg/turret.
I've seen a lot of people fail with engineer, so I don't really like the hero. But I remember back in the day glacius and engineer was a sick lane combo, probably still is.
thanks for the input all, i agree with this tho. i did go mines 2 games in a row and baited some naps at certain spots even putting taunt on full hp as they chase me and then BOOM smackdown doublekill etc...
keg/turret for serious business, mines for some lulz (when going mines dont make this ur game purpose, place some make sure ure not seen but stick to laning so u r not underfarmed/underleveld and shud be ok)
