I'm sympathetic to this reasoning, but more times than not boosting a player 100 or 200mmr is a positive in the long run. The player plays with less trolls, learns things they wouldn't have learned in their own bracket, and generally has more fun. Far more games are ruined by DCs, trolls, or bad attitude bigots than someone having an inflated mmr, though I do understand 1050 to 1800 is a bit of an extreme example ^^.

I would use that logic too if I was the one offering the boosting but it simply isn't true. You're assuming the people you boost are clever, dedicated, and capable of rising above the flame war in every HoN game to actually learn things from superior players. However, anyone that needs to hire someone to boost their account clearly possesses none of those attributes when it comes to HoN. People looking for coaching are a whole different story, but those wanting boosting are either too lazy or too dumb to just watch their own replays, learn from their mistakes, and rise above an emotional level to objectively assess their play instead of always thinking they are the best and everyone else is an awful player who deserves to be flamed. The people that buy boosting either want high MMR to show off, or are legitimately so delusional they think they are hundreds of MMR above their current level despite the system consistently telling them otherwise. In short, when you boost kids with 1500 MMR with 1000 games played who clearly are awful, they end up joining higher games and ruining them because, despite the overwhelming amount of evidence to the contrary, they still believe they are solid players and have an ego as a result. These players will feed, throw, whine, blame their team, ragequit, go afk, etc. because they don't like being stomped, and being stomped is something that happens alot more when you're playing 200 MMR above your level.

TL;DR: People that pay for boosting aren't clever or dedicated to HoN enough to actually improve, and will end up just carrying their shitty 1500 attitude into 1700 games and ruining them.

Boosting can be nice if you play with higher MMR friends though, so both players gain MMR from winning matches, instead of just those 0.4 + ones ^^
