1 hammerdork
1 babur
1 zon

all very highly geared probably worth 50-100k fg

was playing d2 nonstop
got keylogged>stopped with d2>went into hon

getting keylogged probably best thing that ever happened :)

yes

was pubbing with lots of friends

was lots of rivalry going on between me+my friends and pretty much everybody who played pvp on euscnl ^^

I only remember the armor you'd give a merc and when he spawned a bear pet the game would crash and reroll. EZ duping but it got fixed fast + banned if you got caught in too many crashes.

How shops dupe is really clever though.

They make characters in a character editor and store them client-side in a specific place. Then they cause a specific crash and a program swaps the character info with the edited items into the d2 character folder. This would cause a mismatch between the clientside and serverside character info. Because of the nature of the crash the character info that is stored CLIENT SIDE will be used and thus you'd have the items on a battle.net realm.

how do you know this?

if that really is the method, can anyone replicate it? doesn't seem like it would be too difficult

one method of crashing servers was bonewall+meteor spam
i don't know how but this way they would make characters local and import stuff into battle net

Because a friend of mine had his own itemshop. I can't reveal his JSP though because he's unknown and keeps a low profile. Don't know if he still works the JSP market for extra profits. He made quite some money though.

That method worked in 1.09 through 1.11, don't know if it still works but I guess so.

hmm i'd be interested to try this out when i have more freetime

i guess you just have to figure out the format of the character files, and then write to them as soon as you crash the server? doesn't seem too difficult

Required a specific crash, you can't just do it with any crash. That's the problem.
