Anyways I've played a lot of 1v1 and frequently host my own 1v1 Fight Club and this is how I do it.

Mid and Jungle only, no going to the other lanes except to defend your rax and base towers from creeps attacking them.

First to 3 kills wins unless both parties agree to play it out, (which never changes the outcome anyways).

If you are feeling particularly hardcore then First kill wins with Drop items on to make sure of that.

Also some parties agree to use the same hero to factor out unskillful countering.
Since there's no extra gold for Randoming anymore 1 guy can random and the other guy choose the same hero, this seems to be the fairest way to do it.

If you really want to be authentic and train your 1v1 skills for competitive 5v5 play then whoever has the most GPM at the end of 10 minutes wins.

I set my games up like this:
Server Decided by both parties, if 1 is Euro and 1 is USW then choose USE to accommodate both parties as best as possible
Normal Mode: Casual Mode means nothing because Denies don't matter
AP
Dev Heroes
Duplicate Heroes


I agree that the first tower win rule is ridiculously retarded and will result in some extremely garbage play.

Im down to 1v1 some people. As far as rules go, I dont care too much, however I would rather win by destroying the shrine or world tree. 1 kIll, Is stupid as fuck because 1 kill in 1v1 doesnt make or break the game and How it came to be a popular rule is probably because so many people got butthurt after dying one time in a 1v1. And after the first death you are ina big setback that is for sure but it doesnt mean gg. First tower is dumb. 3 Kills to win, I could accept that.
