I've been playing practice games to help kind of get down the basics...I'm starting to learn last hitting, and at first I was attempting to play w/ 6 FPS rofl...set settings down now its like 20 in game...(I can fix this problem as I already have a 9600 gt 1gig gpu but my Power supply won't support it atm and I've got another one on the way...so that when I put it in I should easily get around 60 fps on high settings)

one of the mistakes i made when teaching a friend to play from scratch was to make him master last hitting early on.
focus more on gameplay (how strategy changes from early game to mid game to late game, general strats like defensive/turtling or offensive/pushing after ganks) and stay active (checking your minimap is important, as well as learning when to initiate/play aggressive or when to stay back/play safe and sacrifice farm in order not to get ganked

learn general gameplay, and last hitting should come naturally as a needed

random tip: if you're playing a carry, hero kills early is probably not as efficient as farming/focus last hitting, so a general carry player will avoid fights when possible and farm until strong enough to clean up (when it's more efficient to rack up kills than farming)

Already own HON.

And, Meh...its alright but I get my ass kicked by half decent players, and do pretty decent against people my own skill level.

I'm finding that I really enjoy using scout even though I suck at it especially at first..I'm getting better. The thing I hate most is I can never remember to use my eye's as silencers So I almost wonder if I wouldn't be better off maxing Vanish / Disarm / Ultimate w/ level 1 Eye (get ward skill at level 1 ofc) and then just putting rest in stats to make mid-late game ganking easier.

I never seem to manage to farm a ruined axe the one time I had a shot at it I had to leave for class =(

I usually get Hatchet & Blight Runes.

Then work my way up to steam boots for the quick movement speed, then try to farm up Ruined Axe.

Problem is I usually get 1 piece and then by the point I can afford rest all my teammates seem to be pushing towers so hard I just end up helping them gank and tower push to end it.

you only need 1 in eye until everything else (except stats of course) are maxed, then max eye, then stats
start with hatchet, iron buckler the 250gold shield idk if thats the name, runes of blight as starting items
get a lifetube as fast as you can, then marchers, finish runed axe, finish steamboots (or steamboots then runed axe)

ignore helping teamates until you have at least a runed axe and steamboots because dieing will set back your farm too much

That pherhaps isn't the best advice for a new player.
Playing a solo scout who ignores team, should only be done if you really are a great farmer, and new players usually isn't.

I would advice you to find a few easy heroes, you learn to master them, and then you look into new heroes.

Pherhaps Moon Queen or Arachna.

That's what we taught my friends girlfriend, when she wanted to try it out (because we were always playing it)

She actually became quite good at a handfull of heroes. :)

I tried moon queen, hated it too fragile.

Arachna I only tried once but it was alright, Idk i'm really partial to scout.
