No, Dota 2 is coming out this year. It's been in extensive beta since last december. Their isn't going to be an open beta. Well its not going to be an extended open beta. maybe 1 week? The pictures of the leaked dota pics were from januaryish this year. It will be released soon after preview.

open beta would be the shit, give everyone a chance to try and see the awesomeness of the game

there are still stability issues, and you forget valve time, dota 2 has been in alpha for an extensive time, not beta, beta was only opened up recently (ie where people outside of valve can test the game)
