There's only 3 surefire ways to get out of the <1500-1600 without noobs/trolls dragging you back down:

1. Get lucky, in which case you'll fall back down eventually anyway.
2. Only play with 4 consistent friends, in which case you'll usually float to your actual skill level and stay there, more or less.
3. Only play pubstomp heroes and ks as much as possible to boost your kdr, lower the enemy morale for a concede, and afford money for your own courier+wards for the entirety of the match. AKA playing () () and nothing else, unless you are god tier with said hero.

If you can legitimately get out of and stay >1700 without falling back on any of these methods ever, then you are truly pro at HoN and can probably reach the 2000 bracket and play in tournaments. Otherwise, you're just trolling.

That's the problem with HoN's system (not that I can come up with a better one, if one exists) is mostly to do with the fact that nobody >1850 is actually at their proper skill bracket, making everyone else constantly shift along with them. The issues lie in groups of people being matched with solos or really high MMR's doing TMM with their low MMR buddies along with new players being thrown in the mix, people who reset stats, or the general trolls making for a very hectic and annoying ranking system. The true pros will clear themselves out of the mayhem fairly easily, though even they usually resort to only playing with friends, leaving the bads, the averages, and the semi-descents locked in an ocean of rank pandemonium with no real discernment. HoN is just too complicated with a variety of variables that define skill for players in the mid range to be accurately ranked.

In a non tactical FPS deathmatch, for instance, it's a simple task of making KDR the only factor that matters and skill is pretty easily defined...unfortunately the same just won't work for HoN...it makes for a really ****ing frustrating gaming experience as you're forced to take stats seriously and winning seriously since your quality of future games depends heavily on who you're teamed up with and against.

so you're losing your lane top, im winning mid just fine, bot is doing ok. theres wards on both runes and maybe even a counter ward. will i gank top lane thats losing? nope.. because that lane is already lost. if you are in that lane its your fault, and you'll just be a non-factor the entire game anyways. if i leave mid it will be to gank the lane thats doing well, not the lane that has down syndrome and picked puppet/fayde.

if you want to make yourself useful, leave the lane your feeding and go help the lane thats winning. dont come mid for any reason other than to gank the enemy mid on the tower. if you do and start attacking my creeps i will throw you into the ****ing tower.
