My opinion being one not of veteran status, and not being a smart ass in all seriousness. I'm curious as to why not?

mmr has coins and more smurfs, if you play a public game at low levels, its mostly low level players who are actually looking to learn the game.

if you start out with matchmaking people expect more out of you and if its your first game, and you get stuck against smurfs its not going to help you learn the game at all.

This is true and probably the best option. Yet i do think playing a few games in MM then making a new account works as well. There's still smurfs in public games. You'll just have to try and get a 1400+ game and you should be good.

Also if you played LoL competetivley (Which means nothing in HoN terms because LoL is HoN's Casual Mode) you should at least pick up the general idea in 2 games.

The rest is just learned over time.

As a piece of advice i can give, HoN is a lot more fragile than LoL. What i mean is, a HoN game usually tends to get to the point where 1 death being in the wrong place can cost the game. So try to pick it placement and map awareness as much as possible.

bloodlust can end a game in pub games depending on your team

Nothing is more annoying than sitting on the edge of your seat in a heated 65 minute game. and your support feeds a kill, the enemy takes kong and pushes and you lose.

if your support dies it isnt that big, you just have to outplay them as that hero isnt there to take a few hits of damage
and if the support is behind you should still try to fight them at kong if you're near
