I liked hon beta, i dislike pretty much every decision HON has made since. Faggot themes, homo heroes, girly shit. Not what i signed up for. Iso the darker themes I was expecting.

HoN in beta was essentially DotA with less heroes. So if you were an avid diehard DotA fan, you'd make the transition a lot easier than you would to LoL or Demigod.

Also being in beta gave it two characteristics to help you like it

-Since it was a beta, all the bugs and glitches could basically be ignored as it is not the final product. Rarely people thought, "hey this game sucks it's all buggy and the pathing blows." Thoughts like that were meant with stfu it's free and it's in beta.

-Since it was a beta, missing promised features weren't a valid excuse to dislike the game. Since it had good gameplay and netcode, and the chat/game browsing interfaces were a big step up from bnet 1.0*, people assumed the future content would be just as good and released in a timely matter.


Back then it was a improved version of DotA with a lot of promise. That's probably why you liked it. And this is why people need to stop hyping up Valve's DotA 2. They haven't made a good game since Portal 1.
