from what i've seen, almost ALL sbt / mods fit the following characteristics:

uneducated / unsuccessful / live with parents / bad players / no social life

that's why they're so eager to be douchebags to players who play well and aren't afraid to trashtalk. i mean think about it, who honestly applies for a job which takes hours and which pays you in fucking goblin coins / stats resets. you have to be a complete loser who doesn't have enough knowledge or education to actually work for S2 but wants to have power somewhere since they aren't even capable of managing a local McDonald's.

back when i used to post on forums and had a bunch of followers, some idiot mod actually admitted he was jealous of me cuz he put so much effort into his job but i was the one getting donations / fan mail. some kids are just pathetic. they can't play the game properly, they can't excel in real life, so instead they take a position which makes them feel important but really they're still nothing. can't wait for dota 2 to come out. at least maybe valve will be professional and won't hire retards off the streets to do their beta testing / moderation

Well if you look at some of the people they hire, they aren't formally educated or aren't qualified for their jobs. Nome has a fucking psychology degree. Pudding has a degree in dance or some bullshit. Shawn Presser who no longer works there, self taught himself C programming language (according to his blog). I have no fucking idea what DogKaiser or Diva have degrees in, but they dropped the ball on shit like chalice and striders (the first day of striders being released was retarded). At one point their website said the something along the lines of S2 doesn't care about your experience, just that you're passionate and self motivated.

Since they hire people without real degrees I guess that means they can pay them with chicken scraps, but why did they add shit like the coin shop? Or did Maliken have a shitty business plan when he launched HoN? So we have to evaluate his skills and education. I believe his made his first million copying a porn business scheme after he saw his friend get rich off it. That's all this guy has up his sleeve, copy sucessful idea, porn, DotA, LoL.

SBT is a shit job, they require you to work at least 4 hours a week or whatever, and that doesn't include shit like posting on the forum or waiting for a game to start. I actually got into the SBT, but I was kicked out due to inactivity. They had shitty times for people on the west coast, and it was just a circle jerk clique anyways. That bullshit wasn't worth it especially since all you get is a sneak peak at future content and a closer platform to S2's ear. I don't think you get any additional coins.

There's only two things I believe S2 has done really well. The gameplay of HoN is excellent and the net code is superb. However gameplay wasn't really created by them, they just copied it from IceFrog. Later we find out that he actually worked on the fucking game, so none of the current workers there did jack shit for the game play. Imagine how shitty this game would be if they didn't hire IceFrog. And the netcode was fucking awesome up until they added that disconnect icon, which was sometime in September last year. Now the only good thing they have is merrick's voice acting and animations which shit on anything in the game.

That's a pretty good point that you make about abusing what little power one has to make oneself feel good. That shit happens all the time in real life too with low level jobs. I don't know how bad it is in Europe, but the bullshit you have to put up with airports is insane. Even dealing with workers at Home Depot can be a hassle. Their life sucks, and the only little bit of power they have they use to fuck over your day.

diva has no degree, he said he was a pro dota player, then pro league of legions player and s2 hired him from there.

The worst thing is S2 themselves promote and participate in power abuse, but they can also help you out if you're friendly with them. Either way, they act very unprofessionally when compared to Blizzard or some other major gaming company.

The worst abuse comes as you said from the low-payed people with shit lives who only have HoN to be important in. Don't get me wrong, not all mods and SBT's are bad, I know quite a few that are really cool and fun to play with. But I've heard stories that if a mod loses a game and they dislike someone on their team, they'll go look at the past reports they've had made against them and automatically vote them guilty whether or not the report was legitimate. Forum mods will ban anyone that threatens their position and makes them look like idiots. Hell, I made more money from HoN in a couple of months than LegoPirate did in his entire HoN career, and on top of that I made the entire community hate him for being such a retard. Even his own clanmates turned against him as you can see here:




In response he ended up banning me out of rage and not letting any of my accounts post on the forums again. Other mods / S2 had to back him up to not look like idiots for hiring this guy. The thing is this guy has dedicated hours to the forums and beta testing, and he hasn't made a penny. All he can do is abuse his power in the 1 place he'll ever have any. That's the problem with hiring under qualified people for any jobs which require you to make fair judgment. Their power, no matter how insignificant, gets to their heads and they end up acting like spoiled kids. And people like that are the people who deal with your account bans and forum privileges. Let's hope DotA 2 staff is better

i ordered hon from my country since i cudnt online took 1 week for them to tell me it was out of stock which they didnt even do by themselves i had to contact them several times, then cause of their shity service i decided to cancel my order just cause they suck and have a friend from america buy it from me. it then took another week to get my money back at first they told me they'd contact me themselves but ofc they didnt have to call em back then they made me contact the card processing company which ofc sent me back to them etc... was a joke rly, cool story eh?

atm SBT's get gold coins for playing test games with s2 members and for posting bugs. but i will get kicked soon aswell for sure, im sbt since 1month now and only played 1 test game so far lol, gaming time just sucks for, im from EU and would have to play at 2am+ most times

LegoPirate was on some gay podcast I listened to. He was horribly making unfunny dick jokes, and he didn't contribute much to the podcast. I posted in the thread about that podcast, and he didn't like my comments. A few months later I make some posts in the garbage off topic section, and he posts humps me trying to counter some point I made about China. The kid is a giant douche tool and I'm glad you owned his ass in game.

I don't really have a problem with him being a mod. Sounded like that guy you talked to was jealous. It's obvious LP put in a lot of time making helpful posts on the forum and sucking S2's dick on IRC. That's who you want as a mod, some kid who has too much time and who will defend the company. And as you know spending time away from the forum, you realize what a giant pile of shit it is, so who cares if they abuse their power. Oh no I can't post in that giant shit pool. I haven't even posted on my new account I just got. The critical thinking required from a mod is not nearly as important as a GM. I'd be more judgmental of the GMs they hire since that is a much more important job. Some of the GMs they hire are fucking retarded and some have 1400 psr. You need to have a good grasp of the game to see how people troll others.


Yeah it seems like they only favor people on USE, though that's probably where most of these testers live.
