Had this problem when I had a shitty graphics card. If you ever get a black screen w/ sound crash in the middle of a game, it's almost always your GPU overheating. Try downloading a manual fan control program or use an actual fan for your computer. Otherwise just dust & play @ lower settings like prickster said.

Also helps if you don't have other gpu-intensive applications running while you play.
