i started with magmus which is scorpion king in dota

do NOT pick carries, leave that to the more experienced players

support takes skill

Just random to start with in no stats and test out as many people as you want. there are only a couple of people whom it oculd be difficult to play efficiently at the start but it shouldnt matter much when you are just testing thm out in no stats, best thing to do is to read guides on the heroes you most likely want to play and then have a dip.

go to practice mode, read every hero skill and test them out.

this is the only way you can skip a huge learning curve if you remember what hero's do and understanding how to counter them

Easy to play, supportive

Not much.
You can suck all game with heroes such as witch slayer, glacius, and plague rider, but you're always going to be useful.
