i also never get bracers/soulscream rings/null talismans unless seriously poor or i'm support which is almost never
edit: sometimes i'll do soulscream rings on night hound because backstab is OP but off the top of my head i don't understand why people are in such a hurry to get them when they could get something like steamboots which is pretty much a blessed orb

If you have a bad game against a pebbles or something like that, getting some bracers can't be the worst idea..
But i agree on getting steamboots on him, so his not just food

steamboots is all you need to survive a pebbles combo
unless you REALLY want to go ghost marchers or something, and won't survive the combo with the hero that you have then i guess you could buy that shit
but still, i'd probably not invest in those
450 gold -> 9 str or 510 gold for 6 str
better to fill up any slots you're using for minor totems or w/e with that shit if your biggest worry is just not being killed in one stun duration
if your excuse is that you need the slots, then you should have good enough farm to not even waste gold/slots on bracers
