Culture
- Anonymity breeds 'griefers' known more commonly as 'trolls' (could cover an entire topic with this, using popular examples such as Leeroy Jenkins of WoW)
- Lack of females, very sexist and racist communities
- General population seems fairly frustrated and elitist (examples could be choosing Scout and readying causing 5 minutes of microphone rage or something like not buying a courier)
Good input, I actually had a similar idea about the anonymity factor and the breeding of trolls and griefers. Are trolls and griefers considered the same thing? I always thought trolls were the people (winning or losing) who explicitly try to get an emotional response out of people... Like those people who are winning and repeatedly flame the other team for sucking would be considered trolls, while people who just try to throw games would be griefers. This is my take anyway.
As for the lack of females, wouldn't it just be because they have less of an interest in competitive games like HoN? The female population goes up quite a bit in MMORPGs since they are less competitive.

write about how games are designed around addiction, to keep players hooked even though they despise the game. theres tons of articles about it to read up on.
also how players learning curve shifts drastically once a public score is involved.
LOL the addiction part is very true, didn't think about this... but will probably write about it now. I don't really get the part where you say the learning curve shifts once a public score is involved though, what do you mean?

how communities in games vary greatly
hon is more competitive feeling than other games
how games make people show their big egos
different kinds of people, trolls, griefers, normal people, helpful etc
Yea the ego thing is a big factor, will definitely write about that.
Thanks for the input everyone, sent each of you some fg for your ideas. Still open to new ideas if anyone has some.
