The problem with HoN in general is the mentality of stats. If all you want to do is jump up in MMR, then when you go into a game with that mindset you're so focused on winning you whine/complain at other people if any little thing goes wrong. You'd rather win than lose and learn from your mistakes. The only times I've really gotten better at this game was when I was playing DotA. Why? Because there were no stats, and I was playing to get better as a player than for statistics. I got my ass handed to me several times by better teams, but I learned from that and stopped making the same mistakes.
The problem with goblin coins / stats is you spend so much time taking free wins and complaining about losses that you never learn to improve yourself. Hell, I've learned almost nothing from my year or so of HoN play because all I would ever do is pubstomp. This is fine with me, because I know I can play at a high level if need be. However, if I had only played at a high level instead of pubstomping 99% of the time, I might actually have been pretty high up in the competitive scene now. Think about it: how many times has a 4v5 game not been remade because people wanted coins? How many times have people refused to kick a feeder/griefer because they wanted the free win and KDR? That, combined with the amount of times people afk and rage because they are losing a game and ruining their stats means that some people essentially make NO PROGRESS as a player, no matter how long they play.
Why do you think you see people stuck in 1600 / 1700 bracket with 1000s of games played, yet they are still terrible? The answer is, stats and coins have taken over self-improvement as a goal of the game. When I started DotA, I went from apem pubs to high-level invite leagues and even some tournament play within a couple of years. The reason for this is the only thing I had to play for was fun and self-improvement. If the game was ever 4v5, I would just leave and find a new one. If I was playing a clanwar against a bunch of noobs who picked/played badly, my team would just leave and find a new CW. Nowadays, you almost never see that happen in HoN.
What I'm trying to say is, if you guys want to improve, you have to stop caring completely about brackets/stats/coins. My suggestion would be to not even look at your stats or coins at all. You might drop a bit at first, but after a while with the right mindset you're bound to get alot better. That, or you should switch back to DotA and join some league or even just play in high-level rooms. You'll be amazed by how much you learn when you are playing the game as it's meant to be played, not for some arbitrary stats or goblin coins.

True that, when i first started playing hon i payed attention to my kdr so much, i played so much dota before hon and i never gave a shit about what my ratio was each game as long as the team was doing good, For some stupid reason i got in the mindset of people judging you because those stats were there. I would say im moving out of that now, im still not the best player by any means, 100 games played mid 1700s 60% win eh.. but i seem to be taking off and still climbing, play with alot of 1800s and some 1900s now so i do get lit up sometimes pretty hard .. well a lot more often then i used too... but they usualy teach me something while im getting rolled, i just pay attention to how there playing and try to mimic them a bit the next game
Then again , i have never played a game with a friend / mate EVER, i imagen if i had some mates to play with it would probably be alot of fun win or lose hah
i didnt read
i guess it means i'll never b good
