to me, Jesus' mercy simply isn't good enough. You keep hearing priests in churchs: "Jesus give us your mercy. Jesus we are your servants." Well that is pretty bad for me!

Jesus said (Luke17:7-10) “7 Suppose one of you has a servant plowing or looking after the sheep. Will he say to the servant when he comes in from the field, ‘Come along now and sit down to eat’? 8 Won’t he rather say, ‘Prepare my supper, get yourself ready and wait on me while I eat and drink; after that you may eat and drink’? 9 Will he thank the servant because he did what he was told to do? 10 So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’”

So I want more. I don't want to be a servant, but I want to sit at the table with Jesus. I want to talk to Him. I want Him to tell me "Take this bread and this wine". Being a dog at His table, waiting for scraps, doesn't cut it.

I'm sure Jesus wanted to die on the cross for our sins too. Oh wait.

Do you forget that Jesus also said whoever wants to be great among you must become a servant? Jesus washed his disciples' feet, one of the lowest acts of service one could perform during that time period. He wouldn't ask us to do something he never did. In fact he continues to serve us today by interceding for us to the Father.

Get over your pride, and remember that it is ONLY by his grace that we even can be saved.

It's about your heart, not 'serving.'

I believe that what he introduced to me is the Spirit, of which we all have. When we dine, we may give thanks and laugh with our neighbor; or we may sit alone -- all that we do is a choice and he is a foundation of a religion that shows this.

"Wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable." I quote this because peace is found in the heart, body, mind, and soul, but we must put the pieces in place and if we are of faith, this is our duty and not his.

You see this all the time, people do good and expect to be rewarded, to be praised.

Jesus is saying forget that. Serve God simply because you know it's right in and of itself. Righteousness/duty has intrinsic value.

The beauty of it is, in the end, God will reward you anyway.

I'll take those table scraps and be His servant. And be grateful for that. Thank you Lord. Amen.
