Sorry not sure where to post this but im stuck in a dilemma. My lease ends by the end of the month. Currently its just me my roomate and his girlfriend that lives here. I have already signed a new lease elsewhere and gave the security deposit. The lease office is not letting me terminate my lease until me and my roomate(who is on the lease with me) both back out or sign a new lease. I have asked him many times to get him and his girlfriends information submitted for a new lease agreement but he is not in a hurry to do so. I don't want to be in the situation where i end up being responsible for 2 aprtments rent. what can i do if anything to get him to apply for the new lease. He has said many times he will take care of it and that I will not be responsible for the rent if i am no longer living here despite my name being on the lease. Am i being paranoid or can i really get screwed over if its not taken care of.

it all depends on your friend and how much you can trust him tbh.

I would say if your name is still on the lease you would technically be responsible for it.

maybe get him to write what he said and sign it.
