So my group is discussing Ezekiel 28:12, 15, and Isaiah 14:12.
A little information about these verses: it is believed that they are talking about Satan, who was once Lucifer, the angel of light, the son of the Morning Star.
There is no direct reference, but the prophecy regarding king of tyre was actually originally changed from 'ruler' to 'true king' in the prophecy, which certainly could mean Satan (this is accepted by most but not all hermenuetics)
The other reference is equally prophetic and points to Lucifer as well, accepted by most bible scholars as well.
What I can't wrap my head around is simple, how can the choice to harbor unrighteousness arise from the signet of perfection. Pastor says its one of the great mysteries of God, and we should set our focus on what we know to be applicable to the human world and benevolent. But I am seeking scriptural justification. This also leads to a debate into the age of the earth (most scholars believe it is either 6,000 or 13,000 years old.- I believe it is 6,000) It just comes down to whether or not Genesis was written is days for man or for God (2 Peter 3:8).
This goes back to original sin (done by Adam not the deceived Eve- it was Adam's choice to listen to his wife over God- what he knew to be right that was sin, not Eve's deception by the serpent). So in Gen 1:2, i guess it is anyone's guess as to whether the darkness and void was a result of Satan's fall, or the imperfection of an incomplete Earth in God's handiwork.
So these two questions have been on my mind, and I am open to any scriptural based remarks over them. (I know it seems irrelevant, and our focus should be on the finish works of Christ at Calvary, but sometimes history just intrigues me.)
Isaiah 14 & Ezekiel 28 make account of Lucifer's fall from heaven & his transformation into Satan or the Devil. From scripture it appears that by the time of Adam's creation, Lucifer already became Satan as he is the "Old Serpent" of Revelation 20.
Nowhere in scripture does it say that Lucifer or the Devil was the son of Jesus Christ. He is the son of the morning, NOT
the day star nor morning star- which are tittles attributed ONLY to Jesus Christ in 2nd Peter 1:19, Revelation 2:28 & Revelation 22:16. Ephesians 6 details the influence the Devil has over the rules in power being the "god of this world" as found in 2nd Corinthians 4:4.
