I've heard a few theologians speaking of this. What exactly does it mean? How do you develop a "relationship with God"?

Any input appreciated.

...I'll help get this started . The relationship is founded on my absolute belief in His existence and that He has a plan for my life that I can only fulfill if and when I submit to His will . While this relationship is beneficial to me it is not for my glory but His .

have an an unblemished moral conduct.
treat others as you wish to be treated.
fight incessantly against their moral imperfections.
short: be a good person.

this is the correct path for your relationship with the creator.

With all that we see with our natural eyes I believe that God created the heavens and the earth. Creation is so beautiful with how everything functions especially life. I don't believe that we are here just by some randomness, or whatever reason other than God. By everything that is created, and from the things that have life there has to be a God. A relationship with God the Father is through his only begotten Son Jesus Christ, and from the fellowship of the Holy Spirit. 1st John 2:22-23 22 "Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. 23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also." By acknowledging the Son you have the Father also. If you deny the Son you have not the Father. God the Father is the Creator of all things. He created everything by his Son Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God the Father. According to God the Father's will, and purpose Jesus died on the cross for the world, and he is our Savior. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth, and comforts us. A relationship with the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit develops when you allow them to live in you, and for them to do the good works in you so that way you can be a light to the world showing people the way, the truth, and the life. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the Father, but by him. Jesus is the fulness of the Godhead bodily! Amen! :)

A Real Relationship with God
by Joyce Meyer

"When you think of religion, what comes to your mind—a set of rules, regulations and obligations or a deep, intimate relationship with God?

I like to consider myself someone who has a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. I believe He died so we could have a living, vital relationship with God, not just a bunch of rules and regulations we're forced to follow.

Yes, there are certain guidelines God wants us to follow, but His purpose in giving them is to protect us from the consequences of sin.

God wants to be involved in everything we do. He wants us to fellowship with Him, which means communicating with Him throughout our day just like we do with someone who's our close friend or family member.

Knowing God loves us, loving Him, spending time with Him, and being grateful for what He's done and is doing in our lives can help us have a real relationship with Him."

I agree with this^
