why is the devil allowed on earth?

not so much that he was allowed but cast down.....i don't know.

cast down to earth? hm, seems off.
so the 2nd most powerful thing in existence, next to god is cast to earth to place evil in our lives?
i must be misinformed, i haven't read a lot of the Bible.

Allowing Satan to roam earth is part of God's plan. Satan can only do what God allows him to do. Loving God is not meant to be robotic. If there is nothing tempting you in the other direction, love can become robotic.

The enemy is strong but God is much stronger. We are weak without God and sometimes satan can seem overwhelming . But do we fear snakes in the grass ? Not when God is on our side and he is our tank and carries us through the weeds , we do not even notice the snakes we trample over. But without God beware, snakes will bite you and their venom is poisonous . I have been bitten but today God saved me .
