i honestly don't know how to approach this.
i just started my freshman year and it's a biodiversity class and our first real assignment is to research the origin of dinosaurs but i feel like if i were to say anythign in class or to my professor in private, i'll just be ridiculed or not taken serious.

i talked to my advisor about my faith and beliefs and asked if i should just flat out say to my professor "dinorsaurs never existed so how am i to do this assignment?" but my advisor offered little help/advice and told me to just take it up with the professor.

idk if anyone has ever had a similar expierence to this but if they have it would be very uplifting to know about your struggle and hear any uplifting advice you might have for me :)

god bless

There are varying beliefs in Christianity on whether dinosaurs existed or not. But that is not the question at hand.

What I would tell you is just do it. Most colleges are liberal and this will not be your last assignment that may conflict with what you believe. Believing or not believing in dinosaurs is not a doctrinal issue and doing the assignment is not making you renounce your religion. Stay objective with it. Just look at the research and evidence at hand, and write your paper accordingly.

I have had conflicting subjects at times in college too. I did what I needed to in order to pass the class, all without compromising what I believed.

Hm, question for you?

Why would a Christian not belive in dinosaurs? They are mentiond in the Bible, seen by thousands of eye witnesses around the world the past few thousand years (they never lived millions/billions of years ago), they were called Dragons for a long time, their bones are in the ground, and there are tons of cave drawings, rock carvings and other things of the like that clealy portray dinosaurs. There is a possibility that some could be still alive in remote locations in Africa.

@OP
I would recommend looking into dinosaurs in the Bible and looking into how they fit in the Creation. Christians do have answers for dinosuars. No, they never lived millions of years ago like any Evolutionist tells you they did. Historic records say otherwise and agree with the Biblical account that they have always lived with man, and recent. Dinosuars DO fit into Creation and there is a lot of infomation on them out there like AIG (Answers in Genisis). :)

This is pretty sound advice. I've disagreed with my professors conclusions before, but that wasn't a physical science class like OP's. Sciences standards are a little more stringent, whereas my class was open to interpretation.

When in doubt just be diplomatic, keep your head low and do your work accordingly until the class is out of your life.

so the result of all this was:

i told my prof that dinosaurs never existed and said that if he wanted to show me proof to find evidence of them in the bible and I failed the writing intensive component for the class and you can't receive a passing overall grade if you fail the writing intensive component (which is pass/fail) so now i'm basically screwed for my GPA all because this democrat vegan atheist is a blind fool who thinks his science is better than His word

Hey.

Keep in mind that the word dinosaur wasn't invented until the 1800s, so the word "dinosaur" won't be in the Bible, but they are mentioned. Dinosaurs were often called dragons by many cultures around the world and were seen alive by real people and eventually most were killed off. This is were we get all of the legends and myths of dragons from.

Here's just one of the places that dinosaurs are mentioned in the Bible:

Job 40:15-24

Quote
15 Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.

16 Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.

17 He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.

18 His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.

19 He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.

20 Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.

21 He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.

22 The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.

23 Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.

24 He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares.
