What do you guys think are some of the most misquoted or misinterpreted scriptures in the Bible?

The one I can most easily think of is "Do not judge."

Name some of the ones you think are misquoted or misused.

Maybe this can be a collection that stirs people to study specific verses that they often quote without fully understanding the meaning or context.

I agree with "Do not judge". I would also throw in Acts 2:38 has being one of the most misinterpreted and badly translated verses.

There's a bunch of things that are misquoted in the bible.
For example, it never explicitly says not to have sex with your partner before you are married to them, but it is common to hear people assert otherwise.

Idk...Alot of things are. People try to justify their actions be twisting or adverse the words of the Bible...It is what it is.
I had a intense dream last night..weird how you posted this..It was about me going to alot of beaufiful church's people on the outside looking righteous and walker's of God...But deep down inside was perverse lie's and strong iniquitie's. And God saying not to worry...They will perish. Then a great white light with the cross appearing even brighter and then I woke up.....True story.

It definitely does talk about fornication and adultery.

Actually, it does explicitly state that sex/sexual relations before marriage is a sin. It's called fornication. Staying a virgin until marriage is part of God's plan.


There's quite a lot of verses that talk about fornication, lust and adultery.

1 Corinthians 7:2

Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.


Hebrews 13:4
Quote
Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.


Galatians 5:19
Quote
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,


Matthew 5:27-28
Quote
27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:

28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.


Exodus 20:14

This isn't true. In the bible, sex before marriage is considered sexual immorality, which is condemned as a sin.

I do agree with you though. There are many people that take certain excerpts from the Bible completely out of text. When they do that, it changes the meaning of what the Bible actually says.
