The name Santa Clause originally comes from "Sinterklaas", which is the Dutch name for Saint Nicholas. Saint Nicholas did actually live (his story is not entirely relevant, you can look it up if you want), and in Belgium and the Netherlands he's nowadays depicted as a man who loves children and brings the good ones presents on his own birthday, which is December 6. Americans liked this idea so through time they created their own version and called him Santa Clause. Because December 6 isn't a significant date in America, Santa Clause's "big day" became Christmas.
There is absolutely no link with Satan.
By the way, it's usually a bad idea to search for any meanings behind words that are spelled similarly unless those words actually share some of their etymology. Words go through lots of translations, mis-translations, etc, and similarities are very often purely coincidental.
