Hello, my name is Chris, I am a grateful recovering alcoholic.

I have found my higher power in the name of Christ, our lord.

Are there any other recovering alcoholics on this site? If so we can use this thread to empower each other and be there for one another.

awesome nice to meet you. I was told to never say "Recovered" because we are constantly IN RECOVERY.

I just picked up my 9 Month Chip from AA last night, if you dont mind me asking how much clean time you got?

Yes, I'm always going to continue the work that brought me to a connection with God to keep a fit spiritual condition, but that doesn't mean we don't recover. It's literally written all throughout the book Alcoholics Anonymous, the cover page reads "The story of how many thousands of men and women have recovered from alcoholism".

Congratulations for staying sober for that long, that is quite impressive. There is an amazing life ahead of you if you open the doorway to God through the 12 steps. From there however, the sky is the limit. Sure, alcoholism and heroin addiction are what brought me in, but what I got out of it was beyond what I could have ever imagined.

Understood, for many many people the promises come true. Today I am starting my Step 4,

Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves

I know The man I have become since coming back from 2 tours of duty in 4 years. This step is my first action step and it is By Far the scariest.

I just need to remember the good in me as well as the bad.

Sober 1 year Dec 12. Luckiest guy alive, and lucky to be alive. People that are not alcoholics don't understand...I watched the movie Flight, a couple days ago. GREAT movie about addiction. I pretty much did everything he did but roll a plane lol. Lost wife, kids, career, friends, money, and still couldn't stop...until I hit bottom, it was either jail or death, i surrendered.
