At Bible Study tonight we had a kick off question to discuss. I am going to put the discussion here to see what everybody thinks. If you want to know which part of the Bible we were studying it was 1 Peter 13-18.

What we are discussing is the following statement: "I'm worried that this whole mission thing will turn me into a Bible Basher."
Before we discuss that statement we first need to define "Bible Basher." Here is what the dictionary says.
Bible Basher: A person of excessive religious, evangelical, zeal often relying much on narrow biblical interpretations.

Again the point we are discussing is: "I'm worried that this whole mission thing will turn me into a Bible Basher."

Do you agree/disagree?
Anyway let's discuss.

the bible has many answers. imho the Bible doesn't have answers to new modern questions like: Is the Internet the devil's work ? I mean cmon, we play diablo2 on the Internet

I agree to your statement cause the Bible doesn't seem to have the new answers required by our modern society. Myself I need more than the Bible.

The Bible does have answers to modern questions. That's the main reason that society (example: the Usa) is so messed up, because we have gotten away from what the Absolute Standard of what the Bible says about everything and have tried to "be our own gods" and determine what we think is right or wrong.

Your question "Is the internet the Devil's work?" The simple answer is no, it's not. The internet is just like anything else. It can be used for good (like paying your bills, socializing with friends, listening to music, watching video's) however, it can also be used for bad (porn, scamming people, cheating on your spouse, making viruses, ect)

I mean, you can say the same thing about "Is money the Devil's work?", "Is weapons the Devil's work?", "Is cars the Devil's work?" and on and on.

Why would you need more than the Bible? What does it not provide for you?

I checked in the Bible: "Can I play diablo2 and diablo3" ? no reference to diablo2 and diablo3 there.

I think that there is a fine line you walk with being a bible basher. When you get in the mind set that "it's for their own good to believe" that's when you've crossed the line and are a bible basher.

People need to come to God on their own terms - the best thing missionaries can do is show what a life of Jesus is like.

Jesus was saying that in incisor:
blind faith is dangerous.
faith without works is dead.
we should not hold much in the details of the scriptures, but in its moral content:
benevolence toward all
forgiveness the offenses
indulgence towards the imperfections of others
