let me start by saying i havent read entire bible and dont have verses memorized
but over past 2 years God has been calling me and ive been slowly studying the bible

i dont exclude myself from any of these statements below

Lately ive been thinking about Christmas as it is and how i believe it should be
it frustrates me to see how ppl "celebrate" CHRISTmas
i know that Christmas is the day we celebrate Jesus' birth
but i believe we celebrate his birth bc he was born to die for our salvation
how do we honor Gods sacrifice???
suicides skyrocket, ppl rob kill and riot for gifts
poor parents cry themselves to sleep bc they cant afford to buy kids expensive toys
and way more travesties i wont list

Christmas has been, for as long as i can remember , blasphemous
we are lied to from toddlers about the meaning of Christmas
i was prolly 9 or 10 b4 i even learned it was the Lord's birthday
we're told its a time when sanata claus gives gifts to the worthy
when its quite the opposite Christmas is when God showed grace to the unworthy
its all about materialism i dont recall hearing anyone ever say happy birthday to Jesus
or give Him a present

how would u feel if ur brothers or sisters gave everyone but u a present on ur bday
and didnt even mention ur name

nowadays its not politically correct to say Christmas its happy holidays

we gotta stop this ive started saying Christ mass instead of Chris mus
and if i ever have children i wont tell them santas real or give them presents
its pointless we can never match or overshadow the gift gave us through Jesus' birth and death
so today lets talk to our friends and family about doing away with the material gifts
and lets all do something for Jesus for a change
its a small step but i believe in the right direction

Many people fall into the confusion about the real meaning behind Christmas. Ask a kid and they'll say 'presents.' Ask a parent they'll say 'family.'

Ask a Christian and they'll say 'The birth of Jesus Christ who would go on to die for our sins.'

It's the day we celebrate Jesus's birth, but it's not Jesus's birthday. Big difference.

The problem arises when we value the presents more than Jesus or we forget why we celebrate Christmas in the first place.

I don't see anything wrong with giving your children presents or having them believe in Santa. Most children are too young to understand the "true" meaning behind Christmas. I think showing your kids the importance of Christmas comes the other 364 days in the year.

If your kids know more about Santa than Jesus on ONE day out of the year than that sounds like a failure the other 364 days out of the year. That was the point I was trying to make. 1 day out of the year should not matter (Christmas) because they should have been educated all the other days leading up to and including Christmas.

Also how are people lying to their kids because they tell them about Santa and give them gifts? I suppose we should get rid of Easter as well since heaven forbid we give a child a Easter basket. There is a fine line in making "Santa" more important than Jesus, and allowing your children to have fun during the Christmas festivities.

ur lost friend sry for u if u think teaching children bout Jesus 364 and lying on his birthday is acceptable trade we on 2 diff pages further more bribing kids with toys so they will celebrate CHRISTmas is impossible they not celebrating CHRISTmas they celebrating toys ur children dont have fun other 364 days without new toys? so y make Gods grace to the unworthy about santas reward to the deserving
i can think of no other reason than to take glory from God and put on ourselves

Did I ever say lie? Stop reading so much into things. I find it funny that you are blaming the kids and using Santa as a scapegoat. You want to know why kids think of material items at Christmas (instead of Jesus)? Lack of parental spiritual leadership. I have YET to hear you say that. Why take the responsibility off the people who deserve it? Seems like your priorities are screwed up. You want to talk about God like you have all the answers yet you have failed to point out the root of the problem in this situation. I guess you skipped that part in the bible.

I never said "Don't teach about Jesus on Christmas!! Oh noes!". I said that if your kids are missing the point of Christmas on Christmas day, it was a lack of spiritual guidance the other 364 days out of the year. If you act like "the world" the entire rest of the year except Christmas day and expect your kids to fall in line that morning, you're sadly mistaken. Get out of your rage mode and read what I am typing. It really isn't that complicated.

Your kids should be able to enjoy both parts of Christmas (spiritual and material) without compromising the "true" meaning. If they cannot, I guess you can just blame the kid right?
