On the Love of God as it relates to salvation:
Thomas Talbott (a Christian universalist) proposes the following syllogism with regards to God's love and human salvation. Thoughts? (Keep in mind, if you are not a universalist, you must oppose one of the following)
1) God loves every human supremely and equally
2) God works in the best interest of those whom he loves
3) Salvation is in the best interest of all humans
4) All humans will be saved
Of course, we oppose #4. But in order to oppose #4, we must oppose one of the statements, 1-3.
I don't see how 1-3 correlate with #4. Since #1 is true, #4 can't be. God is love, but God is also just. God loves us all, but doesn't force us to love him back. God would not be God if he was not just. Besides John 14:6 - Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
