Hello my name is jill

long story short, i have been having some family problems,

i have really been struggling with my parents

for the last year or so since my dad has been laid off

i have been paying the bills food, etc

i am a nurse far away from home, and my first visit i see them in almost a year

i notice the electricity is off, the house is a mess, they are obviously using the money i send home for

drugs, because my little brother told me they are on oxys...

now i really dont know how to deal with it,

what im asking is

dont i have a right to be angry, yet i feel so helpless and sad for them,

You have every right to be angry. There is a difference between appropriate and inappropriate anger. How you react with the anger makes all the difference.

Honestly, I don't have much wisdom for you. That is a really hard spot you are in. Know this - I will be praying for you and for your family.

I definitely understand how important family is, but if they are not respecting you and the sacrifices you are making for them, change what you are doing. I believe it is everyone's duty to take care of their family, so maybe instead of sending them money, pay for their bills directly, or buy their food for them. Don't continue to support their bad habits.

You are in a difficult position for sure and every right to feel angry and upset. That is human nature to feel the way you do and there is nothing wrong with it. If I was in this position, first I would stop sending money if it is being used improperly, second tell them to send you the electric bill so you could be reassured it was getting paid. Have you confronted them with your concerns?
