So I was raised catholic because of my fathers side of the family, he has 4 sisters and 4 brothers.

He divorced my mother ~10 years ago and is now going to be getting remarried later this summer.
Having been raised a catholic by him I find it troubling that he is so willingly remarrying, which of course goes against the catholic doctrine.

So here is my dilemma:
His wife to be is a very nice women whom my dad will enjoy spending the rest of his life with. BUT
I feel strangely uncomfortable since this is not good/devout catholic behaviour. and he will not be spending an eternity in the afterlife with his bride to be.

How, if it all should I raise my concerns with him about this situation. any advice catholics, or other christians would like to share, or have some verses to share of what jesus would do/think?

thanks

Jesus already shared what he thought when he talked to the Samaritan woman who had 3 husbands or whatever it was?

If you divorce your first wife and remarry. your committing adultry.

But you never spend your afterlife with your wife anyway, if its your first or last one. Your wife will not be your wife in heaven.

^ "Anyone who divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery, and the man who marries a divorced woman commits adultery." -Luke 16:18

...too many times in our lives do we conform our beliefs around what we want. we reject or claim ignorance to the teachings of the gospel because they directly or indirectly interfere in our lives. we try to bargin with the Lord, saying "well if you give me this Lord, i wont do this for a whole month", or "please i wont ask anything else of you Lord if you just give me this", or "God, you must understand, i didnt want this but it happened and I wanna be happy and I want it this way." Loving God and living a righteous christian life is not about just going to church every once in a while... its about embracing the Lord in every moment and every action and every opportunity in our lives. It's about understanding the ultimate sacrifice that God made for us, giving up his only Son to come down from heaven and die for us. It's about understanding that Jesus died for us and that it is OUR CALLING to LIVE FOR JESUS. He died for us so that we could live for Him.

...we often forget this and we choose not to take it as truth, but it is.

I'll pray for you brother.

If you take a psychology class, you'll learn that they've come to find nearly half of marriages end in divorce. That's 50% of all marriages. I'm not bashing Christianity or Catholicism, but just take that fact into consideration.

I am aware that is is against the teaching of the faith my father believes in, and raised our family in to, that is why I posted this.

I am also aware of this, it seems "god" has no problem with divorce, just the remarriage part, which is not always needed after a divorce.

my family was raised catholic, that is a type of Christianity my friend.

I was more asking for advice along the lines of how to bring this concern up, it is kind of an awkward thing to talk about from my perspective.

i would advise just not bringing it up.
the way you spoke about your dad and his side of the family being so ino the catholic faith,
he probably already knows what he is getting himself into..
he is an adult, yet still a child in the lords eyes.
his decision will be justified when he meets with the lord in the end.

you will find that being his son, when an older person recieves advice from a younger.
they take offense many of times because they are older and stuck in their ways..
and you being his son, he will think that exact way most probably...
you are his son, you arent suppose to be able to give your dad advice is was suppose to be the other way around..

anyways, thats my 2 quarters. :)

Jesus even accepted a prostitute to be with him and enter the kingdom of God.
Why wont He accept your father?
